Our 1st Class councils will take place on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, at 4:30 pm for grade 9/B and 5:30 pm for grade 9/A.
Each student’s performance and behavior are discussed by each teacher at the class council (conseil de classe). Are normally present at a class council: the headmaster (Mr. Alain Cuzin), the deputy-headmaster (Mr. Grandière), the teachers, the room parents and the class delegates.
You will find the phone numbers of your room parents in the 2005/2006 Phone Book.
For details on the brevet, you may find useful the document “Diplôme national du brevet”. It covers the requirements needed to obtain the diploma, and a short description of the written exam. French and English versions are provided in a .pdf format (Adobe Acrobat).
The dates of the exam remain to be determined. However, the exam usually takes place the 2nd week of June.
Reminder: The registration form is due by Friday, December 9, 2005. The fee is US$80.00 per candidate, and the check is payable to the “Lycée français la Pérouse”.
In time, all students will be handed out a form and a schedule with the teachers' names and various time slots. Indicate which teacher(s) you would like to meet and write down which day and times you would be available. Based on your information and available time slots, the teachers will confirm the appointments on the schedule, which will be returned to you by your children. Each appointment lasts 10 mn. Do not forget to bring the schedule completed by the teachers on the day(s) of the meetings.
The meetings will take place in different classrooms of the Lycée. Each teacher is assigned to one. The list of these classrooms is normally available at the front desk.
Please note that some teachers are part-time employees both at the Lycée and other schools. Therefore due to their various obligations, they may not be available for the full period of the Parent-Teacher meetings. To compensate for this unavailability, please feel free to contact them at the Lycée either by phone or e-mail.
For the latest available version of the Lycée Phone Directory, you may want to visit the online phone tree of the Lycée on Extranet home (espace sécurisé), the secured space of the Lycée's Web site. Every Monday, the latest version is supposed to be available there.
Important message: The time has come to make sure that our emergency phone trees carry the correct coordinates of all parents. If changes have occurred after we e-mailed our 1st lists, please forward these changes to us before Friday, December 9. At this time, we will publish the new versions. Changes occurring between 2 versions will be e-mailed to you separately.
We will contact you again March 2006 to update our emergency phone trees further.
Good News: In a near future, the Lycée is planning to automate the management of their emergency phone trees and other databases. When this project finally comes to life, room parents will be relieved from their task of contacting their class parents in case of emergency.

This year, the goal of the auction is to collect US$ 108,000 (last year, the Lycée raised US$ 80,000, and two years ago around US$ 40,000). The novelty of the year: the Fundraising committee is working on setting up a Live Auction in addition to the already existing silent action.
The Lycée is always looking for auction items that would jazz up the auction. So if you have any ideas, please contact Robin Holland or Nathalie Resnick.
